Do you know the difference?

Engineered Wood is not made from a single piece of wood rather, it is made of two main parts, a real wood top layer and a core layer made of plywood. Each ply runs perpendicular to its adjacent ply, giving the core dimensional strength, thus called engineered. Like solid wood, the top surface of engineered hardwood floors is treated instead of underlined to increase its durability and performance. Those chemicals form a transparent layer on top of the wood surface called the wear layer. 

Solid Wood is milled from a single piece of timber, its core structure does not have hollow spaces, thus called solid. It is typically stapled and nailed down rather than glued and cannot be installed on concrete surfaces. Thus a plywood subfloor is sometimes required. The top surface of all solid hardwood floors is coated with chemicals to increase durability and performance, those chemicals form a transparent layer on top of the wood called the wear layer.
